The Secret Garden – old

The Secret Garden, hidden in the shadow of a 12th century Abbey in the town of Malmesbury – Englands oldest borough. At dusk, beautiful nymphs appear in the fading golden light and there’s a magical frisson in the atmosphere.  A wonderful place to be invited to. And a place from where you may never return. Be warned!

Ella Brown

Ella is a very professional young lady who just gives the camera great images and has way more looks than I was able to capture here. Thanks to Richard Wakefield for facilitating the shoot.

Aviation Apocalypse

Two models, loads of old aircraft and it poured down. Making the most of a difficult shoot at the Gatwick Aviation Museum with Gavin Hoey, Tommy Reynolds, models Kerry Allingham and Roger Bruce …. and a very large smoke machine.

Paris – a different look

’m defining ‘different’ as a set of images that don’t actually feature the Eiffel Tower or the Arc de Triomphe. So what’s left ….. all sorts of interesting nooks and crannys.

Jessica

Jessica is a professional Fashion, Hair and Beauty model based in Cheshire. She’s an artist and designer as well as a model and well equipped when it comes to self styling and she also makes a few of her own fashion garments for shoots.

Paris – at Street Level

think that many people would agree that there’s something that just feels ‘right’ about Street Photography done in monochrome. These are ‘observational’ images taken over a few years … and I may add some in colour at some point. Hey, let’s be relaxed about it.

Vide Greniers

The French tradition that is not to be missed is the Vide Grenier (AKA Car Boot Sale). The idea is to empty your loft/garage, find all the old crap – I mean, valuable treasures – take it to a specific location and try to sell it to other people who want to fill their homes with old – errrrm – valuable treasures. Just occasionally you’ll find something really interesting. And you can meet some really nice people.

Ella Newport

Ella is a very professional young lady who just gives the camera great images and has way more looks than I was able to capture here. Thanks to Richard Wakefield for facilitating the shoot.

Gloucester Docks in Winter

Where ships once discharged their cargoes, there is now an ever-changing miscellany of visiting narrow boats, smart motor cruisers and the occasional yacht or tall ship. The former dock estate includes many fine warehouses and is a remarkably complete example of a Victorian port.

Em Theresa

Emma is an experienced and professional model with a a very wide range of skills – including a number of aerial arts, fire-eating and ballet. We’ve shot on a couple of occasions and the mix below is from both sessions.

Francesca Milano

Francesca is a 22-year-old Anglo-Sardinian Model and Performer, based in the UK. A lovely and talented young lady that I only had an hour to shoot with at the Old Chapel Studio in Gloucestershire.

All Banged Up

HM Prison Gloucester was a 224-year-old Category B men’s prison located in the Gloucester Docks area. Opened later as a tourist ‘attraction’ our shoot was organised by Gavin Hoey and Olympus UK …… on a deathly cold January day.

Le Canal du Midi

KatyB – Two faces of grunge

I photographed this amazing young woman at the Old Chapel Studio, Newent. OK she’s ‘punk’ style – and she said that’s all photographers shoot her as, so that was kind of a given. But I wanted something different. Hence the pink wig ….. and thoseContinue reading

Beth Frances

Whilst Beth Frances isn’t a professional model she’s got a great look, lots of enthusiasm (and patience) and is helping me to develop  a range of different styles and lighting sets with the equipment I have in my new small studio. More to come.

Carla Monarco

A young woman who I’ve photographed several times now and who, I believe, represents everything that is professional about studio work and modelling. And such an absolute pleasure to work with.

Paris … the streets, people and places [VIDEO]

Film Noir … in Malmsbury [Video]

Not a place generally associated with Film Noir. But when Artemis Fauna takes to the streets after dark with a storyboard you know that there’ll be some good come from it. Apart from the dead body, that is. Shot entirely on my Nikon D810 andContinue reading

A (very short) Winter’s Tale

So in 2018 we had the ‘Beast from the East’ but no snow. This year we had the ‘Wimper from the West’ and were snowed in for a couple of days. So this was a quick walk to the top of our lane to seeContinue reading

Tango in Paris

Dunes and Beaches

Le Touquet-Paris-Plage, a fashionable place, is a commune in the Pas-de-Calais department in northern France. A small town with a population of 50,355 welcomes up to 250,000 people during the summer.   Originally an area of wild sand dunes and forest – part of a hunting estate, it became known as “Paris by the sea” and developed a reputation as the most elegant holiday resort of northern France, the playground of the Paris and Lille bourgeoisie.

I had three days based in Le Touquet with two amazing models, ‘BOou’ and ‘Alexandra Frances McCue’ working to Fashion/Swimsuit levels in the Dunes, the Beaches and the Boardwalks of the coastline around the town.

Did the Olympus EM1.2 cope with the high dynamic range on the beach in high sun and at sunset? Hell yes!  And the 45mm and 25mm f1.2’s are just the sharpest glass.

Androgyny .. in the back streets of Plymouth

Shot in backstreets of Mutley Plain, Plymouth one Friday evening against street murals, metal staircases and an underground private car park, all in a 3 hour period as it was going dark.

End of Days

The Post-Apocalypse village. Buried in woodlands in deepest Buckinghamshire, a place that draws warboys, tankgirls, wasteland warriors and armageddonists. And provides a shelter from the zombies.
You might get in, but there’s no guarantee that you’ll ever be able to leave.
And, funnily enough, they’re a really nice, helpful bunch of people. Great shoot!
